Valmiera Summer Cup brings together 64 teams from six countries

From 26 to 31 August Valmiera hosted the international youth basketball tournament "Valmiera Summer Cup". In the fifth year of the tournament, a record number of teams in eight age groups participated in the event. There were a total of 16 teams in the girls born in 2006 and 2008 groups; and 48 boys teams born in 2010 and 2004.-2007. Tournament participants in Valmiera gathered from six countries - Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus and Finland.

The six-day basketball festival in Valmiera took place in two stages, with the girls and the youngest boys age groups taking part in the first stage, while the second stage took place for boys born in 2004-2007. The tournament venues - Vidzeme Olympic Center both basketball courts, Valmiera Elementary and Valmiera 5th Secondary School gyms hosted 164 games in total.

The winners  were selected among the contestants and participants in Ballzy Latvia 3-point shootout competition and teams had the opportunity to capture the memories of their time at the tournament in a special team photo session as well.

International youth basketball tournament "Valmiera Summer Cup" is organized by Valmiera Children's Sports School in cooperation with Valmiera Municipality. The organizers thank the volunteers and supporters of the tournament - sports organization Valmiera Glass / Vidzeme University , Park of Senses, Valmiera Swimming Pool, holiday complex Avoti, Ballzy Latvia, Vidzeme University, photographer Emils Vanags. Thanks to Vidzeme Olympic Center, Valmiera Elementary School and Valmiera Secondary School No. 5 for welcoming the tournament at their sports facilities.
