International youth basketball tournament “Valmiera Summer Cup” will take place in Valmiera for the fifth year

On Monday, August 26,  International Youth Basketball Tournament “Valmiera Summer Cup” will start at the Vidzeme Olympic Center courts. Valmiera will host the Valmiera Summer Cup 2019 in two rounds from August 26th to 31st. This year the event will take place for the fifth time and will be attended by 64 teams of eight age groups (girls born in 2006, 2008, boys born in 2004-2008, 2010).

Valmiera Summer Cup 2019 tournament will take place in three sports halls – Vidzeme Olympic Center both basketball courts, Valmiera Elementary School and Valmiera 5th Secondary School. In the first stage (August 26-28), the winners cup will be divided between the girls born in 2006 and 2008 as well as boys teams born in 2008 and 2010.

In the second stage of Valmiera Summer Cup’19 on courts there will be boys teams, born in 2004-2007. In both stages of the tournament,  in the first days eight teams in each age group will be competing in subgroups A and B, while later the winners of the tournament will be determined by a playoff schedule.

The biggest representation in the Valmiera Summer Cup will be from home teams – Valmiera. Each age group includes team from Valmiera Children’s Sports School. The first matches Valmiera young athletes will take place on Monday, August 26 at 10:00, when on the Vidzeme Olympic Center will be 2008 girls team and will play against Minsk Horizont. Boys 2010 will fight in  Valmiera Elementary School against Cesis PSS team as well. We invite all interested people to support Valmiera young athleates in person.
