The 2nd stage of the international youth basketball tournament “Bertans Valmiera Summer Cup 2024” took place from the 29th until the 31st of August in Valmiera, Latvia. Stage 2 welcomed participants from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Finland.
The Stage 2 competition took place among 10 teams in each of the 3 age groups, and the 3-day final series concluded as follows:
In the 2012 age group, the championship title was claimed by “DSN Riga”, who defeated the second-place team, “Kandava BJSS”, with a score of 61:36 in the final match. The battle for third place was between teams from Finland and Latvia—“PuHu Juniors” and “BS Zemgale”. This time, the third-place trophy stayed in Latvia, as “BS Zemgale” triumphed over “PuHu Juniors” with a score of 68:65.

In the 2010 age division, the combined team of Valmiera and Rujiena secured victory over “Rēzekne BJSS” with a 7-point lead, bringing the third-place trophy home to Valmiera. The youth basketball teams from Latvia and Estonia had an intense and thrilling battle for the first place. The game was dynamic, with many exciting turns, but “Rapla BS” emerged victorious, displaying excellent team coordination and tactical execution, which earned them the championship title and first place with a score of 55:36, leaving the second place to “RBS Centrs/Vilku Banda”.

In the 2011 age group, the battle for 3rd-4th place was between the home team “Bertanu Valmieras BS” and the Riga-based team “East-Ball OKTDP”. The Valmiera team showed great determination on the court, and the support of the 6th player (the fans) was felt throughout the game. The final score favored “East-Ball OKTDP”, who secured third place with a score of 65:52.
In the final match between “University of Tartu BS” and “RBS Centrs/Vilku Banda”, both teams demonstrated skill and fighting spirit, maintaining suspense until the very last minute. As a result, the BVSC’24 championship trophy went to Estonia, with “University of Tartu BS” winning first place with a score of 67:62, while RBS Centrs/Vilku Banda took second place.
